STRAIGHT THROUGH CABLE

Click here for crossover  here for rollover cables or here for Loop-back Plugs.

When you are through making a straight through patch cable,

it the ends should look like this.

The outer insulation 5 should go past and be crimped by the holder 1.

The cable pair copper ends should be visible at the end of the crimp 4.

After crimping the tines 2 should be flush flat with the bottom of the crimp.

* The separate insulated wires 3 should go all the way to the end of the crimp 4.

The color really isn't important so long as the pattern on one side matches the other side.

It does help if you stick with a standard.

Patch cables should never be more than 25 feet long. If you need more than that

you should be installing horizontal solid core cabling.

Never run patch cables on the floor where they will be stepped on or run

over by office furniture or chairs.
