Loading PowerChute on a Novell server.

• Continue with install.
• EULA
• Install to the sys volume.

Setup UPS Parameters.

• Verify COM Port
• Let setup ...

Copy what the APC install gives you for the autoexec.ncf file to a .txt file. This you will need to type in at the console prompt so that you don't have to reboot the server.

SEARCH ADD SYS:\PWRCHUTE

LOAD AIO

LOAD AIOCOMX INT=4 PORT=3F8 NOFIFO #COM1

LOAD PWRCHUTE SYS:\PWRCHUTE

Syscon (f: ...\public\rconsole) or go to the console  on the server.

Hand type the commands you copied before.

SEARCH ADD SYS:\PWRCHUTE

LOAD AIO

LOAD AIOCOMX INT=4 PORT=3F8 NOFIFO #COM1

LOAD PWRCHUTE SYS:\PWRCHUTE

Hit ALT-TAB to verify the powerchute is running.

On a workstation with a client installed:

• Login as an administrator or someone with administrative privileges...
• Go to the sys/pwrchute directory and run the winchute.exe application.
• Attach to server.
• Go to event actions.
• On everything that's marked users notified, uncheck and check Admin instead.
• The only exception would be the "on battery" notification. Notify everybody.
• On system shutdown notify users shutdown cancelled.
• In the DIAGS section initiate a UPS self test.
